New intelligence has emerged placing the artifact in some Incan ruins in a remote Peruvian jungle in South America. McKnight partners Bettie with a freelance agent, Prof. Dakota Smith (think Indiana Jones), who is an expert in the fields of archaeology and antiquities retrieval.
Smith’s methods are unorthodox, but effective and after initial misgivings, Bettie warms to him. A two-fisted adventure ensues, with Bettie and Prof. Smith beating off both the elements and the Russkies to find the mysterious resting site of the Key Artifact.
A supernatural/alien element is at play as the adventures reach the artifact site, against which Bettie’s particular skillset and attitude prevail. But upon clearing the final hurdle and opening the artifact chamber, are heroes are astonished to find the artifact… gone.
